APPROVED NON-PROFESSIONAL ELECTIVES

(15 to 18 semester hours total)

Students are required to have 15 semester hours of non-professional electives during their pre-pharmacy coursework when taking Biochemistry. Otherwise 18 semester hours are required if student DOES NOT take Biochemistry.

No Math or Science courses can be taken as a non-professional elective. Non-professional electives should be courses from one of the six categories below:

  1. Communication: English writing, speech communications, linguistics or journalism (ENGL 111, 211, or 218 are NOT acceptable; ENGL 220 IS acceptable)
  2. Humanities: Literature (including American English, foreign and comparative literature), history, religion, or philosophy
  3. Social/Behavioral Sciences: Anthropology, psychology, economics, human geography, political science, or sociology (ECON 201 is not acceptable)
  4. Foreign Languages
  5. Fine Arts: Selected courses in the history, appreciation, and criticism of art, music, theatre, and dance
  6. Health Promotion: First aid, nutrition, health, and physical education (no one-hour P.E. courses)
